"Raise the Roof" on National Adoption Month - 11/5/2011
November is National Adoption Month. We've been busy finding families for our amazing children, but we've also been busy celebrating and giving thanks, too. Our 7th Annual Raise the Roof event was held on November 5th. More than 150 guests enjoyed the beautiful weather and picturesque countryside of Rolling Run Farm in Goochland County.
The evening event was organized by the agency’s Community Resource Board and featured a live auction sponsored by Christian and Barton with items like an African Safari, Costa Rican villa, hot air balloon ride, Yankees tickets. In addition there was a silent auction, bluegrass music from the Jackass Flats, and bonfires. The menu boasted roasted oysters, barbecue, and delicious desserts.
The event raised $46,000 that will go directly to the agency’s mission of, “finding permanent homes for all children and providing related services to birth families, adoptive families and adoptees.
Boards members, guests and sponsors had a wonderful time celebrating. “This was a wonderful way to celebrate all the families that have been united through the gift of adoption,” said Nadine Marsh-Carter, CHS president and adoptive parent.
